Question for you....

This comes from Husband.  I have no answer for him.  Can you help?


"Why do they call it a pair of jeans? Isn't a pair "two of" an item? Like a pair of socks, a pair of shoes, etc.  So, why do they call it a pair of underwear? We only wear one at a time.  Or a pair of pants?"

I love when he asks these questions.  Reminds me of kids I used to babysit.

So, any answers???

    He has to much time to think, give him chores! ;) JK I have no idea and I never really thought about it. Maybe because there's two legs??

    I agree with Lollie, maybe some thing to do with two legs. Or at least leg holes.

    According to answers.com and yahoo answers.

    In times gone by trousers were just two tubes of cloth which were drawn over the leg. naturally two legs made a pair, thus a pair of jeans. pretty logical really.
