Day 3

Day 3: My favorite show

So, I am a tv addict.  I like the noise, I like escaping into other
peoples lives, I love the drama, I love to laugh.  I love tv.  I have a few pictures here.  I will not admit how many other favorites I have.  I really cannot decide.  There is no rhyme or reason to what I love and I don't love one more than another.

I don't hide this fact.

I do have some rules.

Rule 1:

1.  No tv before 5 pm except on weekends

2.  No tv show will ever make me change or cancel plans with someone.  If husband wants to do something? Tv goes off no questions asked.  It is just
not important enough to rule my life.

3.  If we need to cut expenses in a
major way? Tv will be the first one to go.

4.  Make exceptions once in a while and share the remote.  Learn to like some of Husbands shows so that he gets to watch sometimes with me.

Day 2

Day two: A picture of you and someone you’ve been close to the longest

Wow.  This is an old picture! I think that this is about 4 years ago.

This would be 'M'.  I have known her since we were 9 and we have been best friends ever since.  I was in her wedding, she was in mine.  She know my hurts.  She knows my fears.  She is the one girlfriend that I have had that has stuck by me through absolutely everything and has never batted an eye.  She knows it all.  All of it.  The good the bad and the ugly.  This picture is of her and her first baby.  She was 8 months pregnant and drove a really long way to meet me so that we could go baby shopping.  It was sooooo fun.

I love this girl like crazy and miss her.  I can't wait to see her again!

Day 1

Day 1

Something I like.

I like.....wait  for it....wait for it......

GOOD FOOD! I know.  Silly thing to write.  I really do! The dish above? Looks kinda crazy but is amazing.  I dreamt it.  You read that right.  I dream food.  I dream really odd recipes that have no rhyme or reason and they are always amazing.  This dish is two hashbrown patties, scrambled eggs, a mexican bean and veggie salad with a honey citrus dressing and goat cheese.  It really does sound odd, now that I write it out.  But man, if you could just taste it.  The salty of the hashbrowns and eggs, the sweet of the salad and the tangy of the cheese makes an incredible explosion in your mouth.

Ok.  I understand.  You all think I am wierd right now, but food really does it for me.  I cook all the time.  Or, I try to.  I hate to make the same thing twice.  Unless it is amazing? Doesn't happen.  I use one wierd ingredient a week that I have never had to make me try new things.  This week? My entire meal plan is off of a blog I read and I am using two new ingredients.  Butternut squash and pimentos.  Should be good!

People that know me well? Know that I alway know the good meal at a restaurant and some people even order what I do just because! It is silly but I love it.  One day? I want to actually take cooking lessons and become a certified chef.  It is on my bucket list.  Maybe one day! We will see.

What is your favorite food? Favorite meal? Let me know.  I would love to cook it!

30 day challenge.....

Day one: A picture of something you like
Day two: A picture of you and someone you’ve been close to the longest.
Day three: A picture of your favorite show

Day six: A picture of someone you’d like to trade places with for a day.
Day seven: A picture of your most treasured item.
Day eight: A picture that makes you laugh.
Day nine: A picture of someone that got you through most.
Day ten: A picture of you and the person you do the most fucked up things with.
Day eleven: A picture of something you hate.
Day twelve: A picture of something you love.
Day thirteen: A picture of your favourite band or artist
Day fourteen: A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without.
Day fifteen: A picture of something you want to do before you die.
Day sixteen: A picture of someone that inspires you.
Day seventeen: A picture of someone that recently made a difference in your life.
Day eighteen: A picture of your biggest insecurity.
Day nineteen: A picture of when you were little.

Day twenty-three: A picture of your favourite book.
Day twenty-four: A picture of something you wish you could change.
Day twenty-five: A picture of your day.

Day twenty-seven: A picture of yourself and a family member.
Day twenty-eight: A picture of something you’re afraid of.
Day twenty-nine: A picture that can always make you smile.
Day thirty: A picture of someone you miss

I do.

Hawaii 2010

So, having issues with pictures, but here goes!

Our room view in Waikiki

Where: Hawaii.  We went to Oahu and Waikiki

Pearl Harbour

Dad and I climbing a ladder on the USS Missouri tour

When: December for 17 days

Why: Dad lived there and built houses for missionaries 36 years ago and we wanted to take him back to see what he had done there.  Also? Beach. Sun. Palm Trees. Ocean.

Who: Oahu-my dad, husband and myself.  My brother and sister-in-law joined us for Maui

Hanauma Bay-snorkelling mecca of Oahu

Highlights:

  • whale watching
  • Ziplining.  Amazing.
  • snorkelling (for the boys.  I don't do it)
  • Aloha Restaurant.  Cheap meals.  Good meals.  Could have eaten there every day.
  • Hana Highway
  • Seeing a concert with Cheech, Chong (in attendence) William Shatner, Mack Fleetwood and his band, Tom Arnold and some other people.  So fun.  Amazing music.
  • Roasted macadamia nut Gelato on Front Street at ONO Gelato
  • Plate lunch (hawaiian thing.  Rice, mac salad and meat.  So tasty!)
  • Getting a tan!
  • Nude beach.  Sooooo funny the people that go there.
  • To see what Dad did and hear all the stories.
  • Cheesecake Factory cheesecake

Lowlights:

  • Travelling with people.  They were all very quiet and would not voice opinions until they were mad and then they were whispered to other people just loud enough to hear.  So mature.
  • Waikiki.  Was not impressed! I have to admit.  I would never go back there.  It was too big city and did not have a lot of Mahalo compared to Maui.  Felt like Vancouver with palm trees.  Also very expensive and you needed a car for almost everything.
  • Having to fly at night.  I hate leaving at 11:40 pm.  Has made for a tiring last week.
  • The lack of snorkelling I did.  I cannot handle the salt water and so I had a rather boring vacation.  There were 5 of us sharing a vehicle and so I did what they did.
  • Travelling with people that like to get up early! I like to sleep till 8 or 9.  Not get up at 6 or 7.  So sad.  Not a lot of sleep was had.
  • Rain.  A lot of rain for a few days + the presidents vacation obsessing a city made for a few annoying quiet days.
Homeless people everywhere.  Set up in big tent cities.  Very sad.

Changes I would make:

  • No Waikiki
  • No big restaurants.  Just local stuff.
  • More tours and local activities
  • Just Husband and I :) I miss travelling with just him.  It has been a long time.
  • Spend more time researching before we go to find the cool stuff and not just the tourist stuff.

Husband, Dad, Brother.  Seeing who has the bigger gut.  Classy.

Overall Grades:

Food           B for Waikiki and A- for Maui
Location     C+ for Waikiki and A for Maui
People        C+ for Waikiki and B for Maui
Shopping    Both a B
Activities    A for both
One of three houses Dad built 36 years ago

Would I go again?

I would go again.  I would not go to Oahu.  I would pick a different Island and probably and different side in Maui.  See something new! I think we will go back at some point in our lives.  It is an easy trip.  It just won't be for a long time.  I have so many places I want to go and so little time to do them in.  I can't imagine not seeing more of this world!

Little road side market we went to.  Pineapples from heaven!

Black sand beach.  It was my goal to see a white, black and red sand
beach and I managed to see all three!

Beautiful old Catholic Church we drove past
Dad (isn't he handsome?) and the famous Mable Todd that he worked for all
those years ago.  She was the sweetest most amazing woman.  The stereotypical grandma.

Sexy.  Isn't he? I still wonder how he found a wife.

Maybe he gave her this smile instead :)

Crazy cool trees that look painted.  Loved them!

Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011!

Stolen from Heather....thanks!

I know that I do these too often but I have been up since way too early yesterday and have not slept yet.  Getting a little delirious and want to post.  So here goes!

The New Year Meme: 2010

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?

  • Rented a house
  • Lived in a HUGE city
  • Bought a scary as hell business!
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I did keep some of them.  I am not sure if I will make more.  I like to make mid year resolutions.  Then the pressure is off.  Easier to follow through when you star in May!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Many people and more are pregnant! Hard to take some days but so excited for them all at the same time.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, no.  Not this year.  Hopefully not for a while!

5. What countries did you visit?

Just around Canada and the US.  Probably travelling a little less for a few years.  Need to pay off more debt and save for another house!

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?

Better mental health! I am realizing how I let stress affect me and it bothers me.

7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

April 25th we moved.
April 27th we took possession of our new business

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

More creative cooking? Ultimate Leadership? And the purchase of our business.  Also, a happy marriage.  This is huge considering we work together 24/7.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Allowing people to hurt me.  People that I should have know better with.  Feeling inadequate a lot of the time.  Not trusting God to heal me and to guide me in what I am doing.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Not really! Nothing too major.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Clothes! I found a store in the states that has the most amazing clothes!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Husbands.  What man gives up everything he loves to follow his wifes dreams? He is pretty spectacular.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

One whole side of my family.  So hard to deal with some days.  I really need to just not let them hurt me.  Easier said than done!

14. Where did most of your money go?

Living! Travelling for work and a couple trips for us!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Spending time in Terrace, hanging with my niece for 10 days, making a new friend, buying clothes at Torrid!

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?

Not sure! I have listened to a lot of music.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?

a) both. b) Happier with my body but not thinner c) much poorer! Took a HUGE pay cut to do this job.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Taken better care of myself financially and mentally.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Been sad and felt inadequate.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

I am heading to Hawaii with my dad and brother and sister-in-law.  Oh, and husband.  My dad lived there 36 years ago and built houses for the missionaries.  We are going back to see what he did! And meet the people he worked with.

21. Did you fall in love in 2010?

I fell more in love with Husband, more in love with good food and more in love with some friends.
22. How many one-night stands?

Only a few.  I kid, I kid.  NONE!

23. What was your favorite TV program?

Oh goodness.  I watch too much TV~

Glee, House, Bones, NCIS, Mike & Molly, Chuck, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

I would like to say no, but I have been hurt pretty this year by a few people.

25. What was the best book you read?

No idea! I read all the time! Book and books and more books!

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

That I love live concerts.  That I love Kid Rock, but only live.  He is a little nuts.  Also? I like to sing.

27. What did you want and get?
I wanted to take a leap and did.  I wanted more healing and got some.

28. What did you want and not get?

My house sold.  It is now a rental.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?

Definitely not those vampire ones.  The ones with Robert Pattison? Am I the only person that hated them and thought they were boring as hell and had horrible acting in them?

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 30 and had a birthday party! I had a blast with some very good friends.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

If I appreciated it more!

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?

Slowly turning a little sexier and more modern.  A little more funk.  A little more edge.  Am still testing the waters.

33. What kept you sane?

Paige.  My dog.  No doubt.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Oh boy.  I watched Ocean's 11 and fell in love with Brad Pitt again! How pathetic is that? Not the old one of today, the sexy one in the movie.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

Olympics.  Seriously? Did we have to go that far in debt for that? I mean, come on people.  Grow a brain.  It's a recession.

36. Who did you miss?

Friends in Terrace and my friends in GP.  Has been a hard year without that support group.
37. Who was the best new person you met?

My neighbor Stacey.  She is an amazing woman I am looking forward to seeing more of!

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.

That life should be lived passionately, and don't take it so seriously!

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"You are more than the choices that you've made
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes
You are more than the problems you create
You've been remade"
- 10th Avenue North (Stolen from Heather as well.)

I hope that you all had a good new year! I was stuck on a plane and not sleeping.  Not so good.  I will post some pics as soon as I get them organized.  Took over 800 so I need to go through them.

Later!
